When a local search engine result is listed, it will be featured in either (or both) of two listings — local, organic results and those with GMB (Google My Business) arrangements. Examples of local, organic results would be Yelp, YellowPages, and Facebook. The GMB, also referred to as “Local Pack” can come from many different sources including reviews, uploaded photos, the owner of the business, to name a few. On a monthly basis we build out these business citations and link building to help increase your positions in the local map packs. We also consider re-writing your website copy to read in the best eyes of your user, and Google.
Google lists its results according to their “PageRank” (PR), which is an algorithm used by Google Search (although not the only one) to rank web pages in their search engine results. According to Google:
PageRank works by counting the number and quality of links to a page to determine a rough estimate of how important the website is. The underlying assumption is that more important websites are likely to receive more links from other websites.
Also, according to Google, the quantity of content (natural, not repetitive), as well as backlinks are extremely valuable in building online credibility which is also looked upon favorably by Google’s algorithms.
